2007 -- 25th anniversary year of travels
04.02.2008
January 30 2007 was my husband Michael's and my 25th wedding anniversary, and we decided to spend as much of 2007 travelling as we possibly could. Started in Santa Marta, Colombia, then down to Rio to catch a small cruise ship in its relocation mode. The Marco Polo held 800 passengers but we were only 300. Very intimate and friendly! We stopped in several ports in Brazil, then crossed the Atlantic to the Cape Verde Islands and on to the Canaries, Gibraltar, Palma de Mallorca, the Cinque Terre and on to Citavecchia, the port near Rome. Then we rented an apartment for a week in Florence, using it as a base to travel Tuscany. Michael had to go home after that, and I went on to Paris to mooch off an old friend, then down to Pamplona where I had lived from 1970-1979 and once again mooched off old friends. Then it was Madrid, more old friends, then home. Stayed in Colorado for the summer, concentrating on our newest passion, sculling. The fall found us in Boston for the Head of the Charles regatta, then NH, Maine and the north shore of Mass. where I grew up. Our last trip of the year was to Cancun.
At the end of Feb we fly to Miami to catch another cruise ship, this time going from Miami to Barcelona, with stops in the Azores, Lisbon, Gibraltar, Malaga, Palma and Barcelona. Crossing the Atlantic is fabulous! I had never taken a cruise before, so our first one (21 days on the above-mentioned Marco Polo) was our virgin voyage. We LOVE cruising, where I could be busy while Michael slept and hot-tubbed.
After this cruise to Barcelona, the next "trip" is the imminent arrival of our first grandchild.
